Bhutan Trek - Program

Central Bhutan Cultural Tour (8 days in Bhutan)

Day 1 Departure Stockholm

Day 2 Arrival to Kathmandu

Day 3 Halfday sightseeing to monastery's and temples.

Day 4 Flight from Kathmandu to Paro in Bhutan. We are driving to Thimpu. Staying in hotel.

Day 5 Full day sightseeing in Thimpu. Staying in Thimpu.

Day 6 We are driving to Gangtey via the Dochula pass (3050m). After that we are driving to Punukha Dzong. This fantastic monastery by the water, regarded as one of the most spectacular buildings in Bhutan.

Day 7 In the morning we are visiting the monastery in Gangtey. We will continue to Tongsa for lunch. Staying in lodge.

Day 8 In the morning we are visiting Jampha Lhakhang. In the afternoon we are visiting Tamshing Lhakhang which are famous for its old paintings. Later on we will continue to the monastery Kencho Sum Lhakhang.

Day 9 We are driving to Thimpu. The drive will take 7-8h

Day 10 In the morning we are starting our way back to Paro, on the way we are staying and visiting Drukgyel Dzong, a ruined fortress, built to defend Bhutan from the Tibetan invasions. Drukgyel Dzong means victouries fortress.
If it is a clear day we wil see Mount Chomohari, which is 7315 meters.
After this we go to Satsam Chorten and trekking 2h up to a teahouse, where you will have a fantastic view over the monastery Taktsang or the Tigers nest as it is also called. An increadible monastery which is built on the mountain face with a drop of 1000 meters down. Staying in hotel in Paro.

Day 11 Flight from Paro to Kathmandu.

Day 12 Kathmandu

Day 13 Departure home

Western Bhutan Cultural Tour (6 days in Bhutan)

Day 1 Departure Stockholm.
Day 2 Arrival to Kathmandu
Day 3 Halfday sightseeing to monastery's and temples.
Day 4 Flight from Kathmandu to Paro in Bhutan. We drive to Thimpu. Staying in hotel.
Day 5 Full day sightseeing in Thimpu. In the morning we are visiting Memorial Chorten. A stupa which was built in 1974 as a memorial to the third king, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. The beautiful art in the stupa is rear in Buddhistic philosophy. We continue to the Zoo to see the Golden Takin (Bhutan's national animal). After lunch we will visit the paper factory in Jungsi, a nunnery and an art school.

Day 3 Halfday sightseeing to monastery's and temple's.
Day 4 Flight from Kathmandu to Paro in Bhutan. We are driving to Thimpu. Staying in hotel.

Later on we will visit Zilhukha nunnery and art school.
In the afternoon we will visit the handcraft center and after this we stroll down in the city and you will have the chance to visit and buy handmade things in the shops.

Day 7 Flight from Paro to Kathmandu.
